Padme's Faith Rewarded by Jokerisdaking Padme's Faith Rewarded by Jokerisdaking
A commission I hired :icontaclobanon: to do.

I'm an enigma amongst most Star Wars fans. My favorite of the orginal trilogy is ROTJ which most Star Warsfans always seem to like to consider the worst one. This is the first point that makes me a weird Star Wars fan. I think its my favorite because of the end. When Vader destroys the Emperor to save Luke is my favorite moment in cinema. I have watched it thousands of times. I put the DVD in and just watch that scene over and over.

The second thing that makes me a weird Star Wars fan is that I LOVE THE PREQUEL TRILOGY. Thats right, I love it!!! All the characterization makes Vader a stronger character in my opinion. It also serves to make Palpatine more evil. I also loved Padme and how she had faith in Anakin even when she was dying. Makes my favorite moment even more meaningful.

Hence this picture. The spirit of Padme rejoicing in Anakin returning to himself.

This is probably my second favorite scene in the franchise.  The first is the scene when Luke and Vader are talking.  I love that scene so much for many reasons.  I feel like when Vader says that it's too late for him that that was actually Anakin and when he leans on the rail after Luke leaves, that's him again.  Vader died during that last head turn and Anakin came back when he picked the Emperor up.  Anakin finally died when he saw his son without his helmet, which is my third favorite scene.

I actually love this scene
We See Anakin Finally See what he has become as he sees his son being Murdered, by the man he saw as a saviour of the galaxy
And he thinks about his choices and then is Like "NO MORE"
Grabs Plapatine and throws him into the the center of the death star
Finally redeeming himself once and for all
A puppet that finally cut the strings

I'm a weird Star Wars fan too and I'm 100% agree with all you wrote here!!  I LOVE THE PREQUEL TRILOGY as well.
Awesome artwork, I sometimes think... it would've been great to see a ghost force of Padme, since Yoda said
the force is everywhere, in anyone, right? that she talked to Darth Vader from the inside to save their son Luke.
It's just me but I love the idea...

I love this! I did a Google search just to find this piece again. I like to think that Padmé was there when this happened. One of my favorite scenes in A New Hope is when Obi-Wan "remembers" his name. The musical cue makes me imagine him remembering the past: Qui-Gon, Anakin, Padmé, etc. I'll stop nerding out now, but yes, I adore both trilogies and wish that the new films wouldn't be affected by the prequel hate.

I agree with you mostly on the ideas of the scenes. I thought it was weird that padme was quite a bit older in phantom menace. But other than that prequels had good intentions... except for Jar Jar

Yes! Thank you! I agree with every word you said. This was undoubtedly one of the best scenes in all of cinema. I too love the prequel trilogy. A shame more people don't.  Those movies really showed how much of a tragic character Anakin was.

Yes! I loved this scene! I agree about the prequels developing Vader/Anakin's character, the tragedy behind Darth Vader made him more understandable and more human. This is a great piece

Return of The Jedi.

That title. Most people assume it is in reference to Luke, but who does the title really refer too?

Looking back, I wonder if Palpatine/Darth Sidious actually PLANTED the nightmares of Padme dying in childbirth into Anakin through the Force.

Palpatine/Sidious KNEW Anakin was attracted to Senator (formerly Queen) Amidala, and after how Anakin told him about his mother Shmi dying at the hands of the Tusken Raiders (Sand People).

i.e. He used the Dark Side and planted them into Anakin's mind when he was a great, heroic Jedi Knight and even expecting a child with Padme.

Ooh, that's an interesting idea, never thought of that. I already have a theory that Sidious had some sort of mind-control over Anakin. If Jedi can use the Jedi Mind Trick then it makes sense that a powerful Sith could do something similar but more powerful and sinister.

Padme's dying words: "There is good in him.. I know there is still ..."
Luke's words to Kenobi: "There is still good in him" And to his father: "I know there is good in you."

Luke said he had no memory of Padme as he saw her die as a baby, Leia safe in the arms of the midwife droid could only feel her pain through the Force yet still remembered images and feelings.  But Luke still remembered her words.

Nice touch adding the Japor snippet.

Maybe it's just because he was like Padme. I think that was point of that line; it helped connect Luke to Padme and helped explain why he thought and acted the way he did because he took after his mom. Maybe he did remember her words though somehow and those words guided him throughout life.

It's interesting that Leia could feel and sense certain things that others couldn't, like how she sense her brother's suffering or her mother's pain even though she'd never him trained. Luke on the other hand, was trained but didn't have the abilities to sense those sorts of things. It suggests that Leia is even more powerful than her brother. That's why it's such a shame she didn't get a chance to train her abilities (at least not in the movies), especially since I don't see why Luke couldn't train her or the ghost Jedi for that matter.

In my own view, The Force works in mysterious ways. It had its own agenda for Anakin Skywalker's destiny. He was meant to bring balance to the Force, but he did it the way the Force may have intended it.

Essentially, Anakin did bring balance by doing what he did on both sides of the Force: strengthening and weakening both sides.

On the Light Side, he won countless battles in the Clone Wars and he killed many Sith, including Count Dooku. When he turned to the Dark side, he weakened it greatly to the point that there was almost no hope left. He killed many Jedi and helped the Chancellor give rise to the Empire.

On the Dark Side, Anakin killed countless Jedi, including his own Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Gave rise to the Empire and become the Emperor's right hand. When Anakin redeemed himself weakened it, he saved his only son Luke and ultimately destroyed the Sith, the Emperor and himself.

The balance was that now both sides had nothing. Just a single clean slate. So the Force could start anew.

I know many people who love ROTJ. It has what a space battle should be.

And I like also the second trilogy.

On this image, Yoda said to Padme that she was strong in the Force, at least in the novel of AOTC. So, maybe she kept aware in the neitherworld of the Force...

"I have the power to save the one you love! You must CHOOSE!"

After 20+ years, countless deaths, dispare, pain, hate, self loathing and at last.....love. He chose.....he finally chose. :)

"Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me."

Through passion he FOUND strength
Through that strength he found the POWER to change
From that power his chains were at last broken. He would not die a slave.
And the force set him free.

"Realising who he is, Anakin once again found the compassion and love he felt for the dutiful, dedicated yet passionate senator he seemed to have lost 25 years ago. As he grabbed the galactic menace that had motivate his hate and ego to destroy him, his cold lips silently declared the ultimate defiance over Palpatine-he rejected the man's codes and lifestyle and embraced those that tried to help him. Palpatine desperately struggled, but had become so convinced in Anakin becoming a vessel of the dark side and that life tiself was selfish to the core, he could not comprehend Vader's motivations so that he may save his undeserved life.

Beyond the mortal coil, countless souls were filled with countless emotions, none of them negative. The comrades killed by his actions first yelped in surprise, shock and denial-but their denial turned into a joyous faith that the Dark Side has just been crippled, now that they know you can escape from it. Loved ones and family had their hope and faith rewarded. Even past Sith Lords felt a sense of happiness-partly out of vengeance for the manipulation of their own lives, and partly because the Emperor was even worse than they

In the Emperor's last moments, he screamed at the Force, the universe itself and demanded why. Why would Vader do this? How could he be betrayed not for a lust for power, rank or ego, but out of a sense of love? The universe answered, but is in the language that the Emperor could never understand, from birth to death

The lightning seared Vader's body, the cybernetic qualities compounding the problem as his organs failed him. Vader felt immense pain, comparable to the flames of Mustafar. But there was a vital difference-this was merely physical pain. That which put him into the suit trapped him in a hell of his own making. This was destroying the prison his body had become, releasing him. For a few seconds, Vader thought what might happen. And it took him even less to realise it didn't matter-even if he were to be condemned to Hell with his master, it would not be suffering. Because he proved his lover right. Because he spared his children the dark fate that consumed him"

Because Anakin Skywalker just created a Heaven of his own making.
